The HCE-COD Project will provide the medical documentation team of the different hospital services with a tool for automatic coding of medical records with a control panel for the supervision and relearning of the manual corrections they make. The Project also contemplates its connectivity to the Health Information System of the Hospital Center for an integrated management at a higher level.
The automatic coding of medical records responds to a process of linguistic decomposition of the terminology and syntax used by physicians in the process of diagnosing the patient.
This situation is solved in our HCE-COD Project by building a mathematical model of representation, with machine learning of the association between said representation model and the official coding used, as well as the prediction of new codes from a textual input. In short, the coding of new diagnoses/procedures written in natural language.
The main objective of the project is to define the transition from the current model of manual coding of medical records, to the model of supervised automatic coding, providing:
- A strategic consulting and change management model
- An automatic coding and supervised relearning product
- Training in the tool and its feedback
- Continuous maintenance to improve coding quality
It is clearly framed within the thematic scope typified as
e) Health and social well-being in its section
i) Health: Systems and tools related to Clinical Systems.
